Colorful Vintage + Modern Kitchen Renovation in Tulsa, OK

Colorful Vintage + Modern Kitchen Renovation in Tulsa, OK

Well, I can't believe it. Our kitchen is actually done. Done, I say! It's been so long, I'm ashamed for you to look back to see the date of the "before" kitchen post.

Okay. It was April 30th.

So that means the kitchen's been about six months in the making. Now to be completely fair, our kitchen has been functional since mid July, but the "finishing touches" took nearly as long as the bulk of the demo/installation. But whatever. It was our first renovation and we went at it without a general contractor and it's done now, so who cares if it took six months? Who's even counting, right? (I can say that now that it's over, because I did care. I was the crazy woman counting!).

The House that Tulsa Built: Local Fall Tables

The House that Tulsa Built: Local Fall Tables

Shopping small in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and why it matters

We are four and a half years into this life adventure of small business owning,  and we've grown very passionate about carrying locally made and handmade goods in our shop, as well as cheering on our fellow small businesses. We recently gathered some of these Tulsans to set fall tables together. These scenes are the heartbeat of our city, the vibrancy of its people.

Cozy & Collected Mid-Century Modern Den: Embracing Dated, Original Wood Paneling

How I embraced 1950s wood paneling to make a pretty space

Since my last den post, we've changed a lot in the den. When I sat down to think about what we've specifically done, I started listing off things like: purchased furniture that fit better, got a rug, installed lighting, hung artwork, added house plants. You know, just the basic things you do to decorate a room.

Home Styling Before & After: A Tulsa 80s Boho Bedroom

Home Styling Before & After: A Tulsa 80s Boho Bedroom

We were super pumped to do a home styling session with our bud Tasha of House Sparrow Fine Nesting this fall. Tasha has amazing taste as evidenced by her handmade textiles, put-together 80s home and general loveliness. However, Tasha's bedroom had her feeling not so good. She described it as a dark place she hated spending time in. Yikes! No one deserves to feel that way about their bedroom.  Instead of avoiding a dark, dingy, and sad bedroom, Tasha longed to "spend lazy mornings cuddled in bed with coffee and a book and [her] babies."

Decorating your home: Why mixing old and new is a must

Decorating your home: Why mixing old and new is a must

We don't have many hard and fast rules when it comes to decorating your home. With a space that reflects you and your family as an end goal, we can find ways to make nearly anything work if it makes your heart sing. You want a ceramic chetah statue in your den? Do it. You want to have three patterned rugs in one room? Why not? No clothes storage in your bedroom? Sure thing.

So when we say we have one piece of advice that you shouldn't overlook, you know we mean it. Here's it is: mix old and new in your home. Just please do it. Sure, people balance this mix in different ways–some lean to the vintage side and others to the new, but it's the mix that's important. The mix, we say!
