Your surroundings matter. When your home isn't what you know it could be, it can be very draining. Both physically and emotionally. That's where we come in, ready to help finish the job and guide you to a home supportive of you and your dreams. Specifically, we help people beautifully complete their spaces, allowing their homes to become sources of energy, comfort, and happiness. Last year, a cool Tulsa family reached out to us to help transform their home. See what they've accomplished after we empowered them with a plan.

The Situation: After living in their charming bungalow for over a decade, Alicia and her family felt their home did not match their needs functionally or aesthetically. They rarely used their living room except as a pass through due to its narrow shape and awkward layout. Also, they weren't sure how to best arrange their sunroom.

The Solution: We collaborated with Alicia and her family using our Whole Enchilada process to update the style and function of their home. We started with the living room and sunroom. Below are excerpts from our home checklist we created to help complete and style this family bungalow.

  • Only keep things you absolutely love. We give you permission to get rid of sentimental things or gifts that have outlived their purpose for you. You and your family have grown a lot since you obtained a lot of the items in your home, and they may not serve or reflect you anymore.
  • You told us you want to get rid of the piano, so do it. Also remove the bookshelves from the living room and the coffee table from the sunroom.
  • Take the art down and stack safely against a wall. See which pieces you remember and want back up.

  • Move office desk (and office-related objects) away from the window to the stained glass window wall in the living room.
  • In its place, scoot the sofa so that it’s centered on the opening to the sunroom. This placement should unite the two rooms, making the living room a place your family will want to spend time in. Try out this arrangement for a bit and see how it feels. Do you feel more connected to the sunroom? Do you use this room more?
  • This new arrangement also allows a more welcoming space at your front door than an office area does.
  • Paint the living room and the top of the sunroom white and the bottom of the sunroom (below chair molding) a medium-toned gray.
  • Create a sitting area in the sunroom with one or two chairs. You can work from your laptop here or easily push the chairs aside to practice dance routines.
  • Replace curtains with white wooden blinds in both rooms. This will create a cleaner and more modern look–plus they will be more functional.
  • Add a simple globe light fixture in the sunroom.

Alicia and her family have made so much progress since we first met them last year! Thanks to the new layout, they actually use their living room and always have a place to sit and talk with one another or relax after a long day. They have built a beautiful framework for both of their rooms and continue to work to complete the spaces with beautiful, meaningful objects and artwork.

Alicia said our collaborative and friendly, yet direct home styling process was exactly what she needed to start making moves towards her ideal space.
