Styling with Pattern and Color: Our Favorite Interior Power Clashes

Styling with Pattern and Color: Our Favorite Interior Power Clashes

One of our favorite games to play while styling the shop is, "Can we make this go together?" It's a fun game, really. To play, we pick two pieces (rugs, sofas, chairs, artwork...) that are super loud or crazily patterned and then try to build a scene around them using only things we have in the shop so that they "go together" in the end. It's a great challenge because we only have so many neutral colored rugs or solid sofas to work with, so often times we end up power clashing.

Beach House Style: a Breezy Interior Pairing Modern and Vintage

Beach House Style: a Breezy Interior Pairing Modern and Vintage

This summer we were lucky enough to stay in a 1960s beach house in North Carolina with my husband's family. Within five minutes of entering the house, I was texting Daly photos. Of what you ask? Well....when we first entered the house, I was blown away by the wallpaper. I think the rest of the family was blown away as well, but not in a good way. But for me, it was allllll good. I had all the hearts in my eyes. Just look at it! The wallpaper was bright and bold and whimsical and sweet and everywhere.

DIY Painting Your House Exterior

DIY Painting Your House Exterior

When my father-in-law said he'd help us paint our house, I figured that meant it wasn't a hard task. I mean, if we can do it ourselves, it must be super doable, right? Wrong.

Mid-Century Modern Ranch Home: Creating a Modern Eclectic Patio

My Patio was in Disrepair

When we moved into our home a couple years ago, I knew our back patio had major potential, but it was a big eye sore at the time. The patio was HUGE and looked out to the small, beautiful lake that our home backs up to (the reason we bought the house); however, the previous owner had five foot shrubs surrounding 90% of the patio, blocking the view. Additionally, the patio was in disrepair. It was probably original to the home and most of it was crumbling. You couldn't walk outside barefoot because of the rough, pebbled finish that hadn't entirely flaked off. It was definitely not somewhere we wanted to spend our time, though it felt like, in theory, it should be a place where we should want to spend ALL of our time.
